To answer the question why is the drug business typically violent. The first thing that pops up in my head is Money, Power and Respect when it comes to the Drug Traffickers. It is all about competition and who has the best product. Each Trafficker wants his and only his product to be on the streets and basically want's total control. For example in watching the video about Heroin being sold, the Drug Traffickers would bring in their own Chemist in order to make their product more pure hence the product being 6% pure previously to now 90% pure.
